What I have for you to consider today is our Native Minnesota Highbush Cranberry Shrub. This shrub is SO easy to grow and is absolutely a gorgeous shrub for your yards as specimen plantings OR to incorporate into your windbreak, privacy border OR just to plant for the fruit it produces…..for your family to eat OR the birds!
I have these lovely shrubs available right now for $40 each or 5 for $185. They are in that 2 to 3 foot size group and they ARE potted…..so planting is a snap! We also pot in REAL Dirt, and as always, totally organically grown!
HERE'S THE DIRT ON THESE INCREDIABLE SHRUBS:
HIGHBUSH CRANBERRY (TRUE MINNESOTA NATIVE SHRUB!): The Cranberry bush is just a wonderful shrub for just about anyone’s yard or landscape. It is a medium sized shrub (will reach a total height of around 5-6 foot with an equal width), all with a beautiful rounded carefree growth habit. This shrub can also be pruned (and in fact loves it), if your needing a smaller size, causing it to be even more thick/dense/bushy than it already is. It makes an excellent natural privacy screen or hedge, as well as a lower windbreak within your tree line project. Many lakes area and city folks are planting these dense beauties between their property lines where either fences are not allowed, or a fence simply isn’t the look your after. This shrub also sports beautiful and heavenly smelling late spring blooms, which turn into bright red berry fruits in the autumn. These shrubs will hang onto these fruits throughout winter, giving you much beauty against the white winter landscape. Although you may want to save some of these fruits for your birdie friends, the berries are quite editable for humans. Pies, Jams, Jellies or Breads are just to name a few. The cranberry bush is also a carefree shrub as well with no special care, and will adapt to a variety of soils and growing conditions. It is tough as nails and a proven star in my yard for sure, and frankly would not be without it. You would never regret planting one or more of these beauties in your yard. The wow factor on this shrub will be gladly accepted as you start receiving compliments from your friends, family and even neighbors. It is SO pretty, SO carefree and SO versatile, that you’ll look like a master gardener without even trying! :)
